Yielding the Floor to Victory : UNITEN team excels at Floorball Championship

PUCHONG, 20th March – The finals of Selangor Intervarsity Floorball Championship 2017 ended on 19 March 2017 with UNITEN emerged as champions of the mens category. The two-day competition was held on 18 March at IM4U Sentral, Puchong with 5 participating teams from German-Malaysia Institute (GMi), Universiti Malaya, UNITEN, UCSI and the University of Nottingham.

UCSI and UNITEN have both emerged through the 5 preliminary rounds and eventually faced each other during the grand finals. The UNITEN team were fully on guard of their opponents during the final showdown, striking when the iron is hot. In the end, all efforts paid off when UNITEN team emerged victorious on the scoreboard, where the score between UNITEN and UCSI were 3 : 0 respectively.

“Actually we have been training for quite a while and the reason of such is because we want to set our focus on the Kuala Lumpur Floorball League 2017, which will take place on 15 April ,” said the floorball team captain of UNITEN, Al Amin Bin Mohd Zain. According to their team coach, Amir Naquiddin Bin Abd Jalil, the team trains thrice a week to keep up with their performance and the champion title is definitely a confidence booster to their upcoming competition.

The first and second runners up of the Men Varsity category was won by UCSI and Universiti Malaya respectively while the top three prizes of the Women Varsity category was won by Universiti Malaya, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and GMi, where the three teams won first, second and third places respectively.

The NADi UNITEN team would like to congratulate our UNITEN Floorball team for making us proud with such achievement and we wish you all the best for your performance in the upcoming KL Floorball League 2017.
