This is SRC’s 11th weekly meeting that took place on 27th July 2023 at 9:25PM using Microsoft Teams as their meeting platform. The discussion includes the Facilities improvement proposal, Plans for August – November, Townhall final preparation, Discussion on Big 3 incentives and Miscellaneous.
Facilities Improvement Proposal
The current balance in SRC bank account is around RM60,000 after all orientation kits have been settled. Most of the balance comes from the orientation kits fund, which are student’s fund. Therefore, this balance should be used for returns to students and should not be used for programs or activities fund.
Last term, the balance was mostly used to cover the funding for programs or activities since the TAP allocation for last year is very little. Fortunately, this term’s TAP allocation is more than enough to cover programs or activities funding. Therefore, all programs or activities should prioritise TAP allocation for the funding instead. Therefore, the facilities improvement is proposed using SRC own funding for returns to the students.
The proposal consists of two main facilities improvement which will become a contribution from SRC for this current term and these two facilities are:
- Food Bank
- Badminton
Improvement for the Food Bank:
- 4 units of open shelf cabinet to be placed at Discussion Room, TB building to store stocks of food bank from the vendors.
- 4 units of pigeonhole rack to be placed at each residency.
- Implementation: All food bank stocks directly from the vendors will be stored inside the Discussion Room, and the food will be distributed to all residencies via the pigeonhole rack. All students can access this food bank rack without any tight procedure.
- The plan of using one of the rooms at The Square, UPTEN to become the food bank store was cancelled due to avoid any future problems since UPTEN is now owned by TNB.
Improvement for Badminton Facility:
- Provides 4 sets of portable badminton post to be used at badminton courts in DSS.
- There are 4 available courts in DSS and currently, there are only 2 available badminton post.
The total estimated budget will be around RM13,572.00. “Sumbangan MPP 2022/2023” mark will be sprayed at the Students’ Representative Council badminton posts and the reasons are:
- To indicate the current SRC’s contribution.
- Provide a banner or signboard at the food bank store indicating current term SRC’s initiative.
SRC will try to generate more income and entrepreneurship opportunities for the current and next term by investing RM5,000 to own 5 kiosks inside UNITEN to be used by SRC. Furthermore, all SRC members should work on these facilities’ improvement together.
Planning August – November
Plans for August:
- Focus on UITS
Plans for September:
- Focus on completing manifesto (e.g. for those industry linkage related manifesto, should work on the engineering week etc.).
- Focus on the food bank implementation.
- The week between 25/9 to 6/10 (between short sem break and Sem 1 23/24) will be utilised for a “short camping” where all SRC members are required to stay at campus for a week or two to focus on completing various tasks such as Ashwathi’s IEEE program, SRC candidate selection, BAKSIS replanning, and #KITAUNITEN Club Fiesta 2.0. Accommodation for this “short camping” will be in-charged by Thareeq. (PIC: Thareeq)
Plans for October:
- preparation for upcoming Prasarana meeting. All preparation including slides presentation preparation will be fully in-charged by Farhan. Some of the issues that can be brought during the next Prasarana meeting will be brought during Townhall. (PIC: Farhan)
- Find more SRC apprentice before the Retreat camp.
- Retreat camp (PIC: Ali)
- #KITAUNITEN Club Fiesta 2.0 (PIC: Laila)
Discussion on Big 3 Incentives
The person in charge will be Ammar to set up another meeting to discuss on this matter.
Miscellaneous
- Some students complained that some of the COE lecturers parked at student parking. Thareeq will discuss on this matter with the security staff to clear on this issue. The person in charge will be Thareeq.
- The SRC budget allocation of RM 6,000 for Ashwathi’s IEEE program is said to be not enough since DSS cannot be used during the date of the event and therefore require external venue, which costs more money. Ashwathi should ask alumni (Baim) to ask for venue service sponsor from the alumni.
