PUTRAJAYA, 4th of November 2016 – UNITEN Tetrathlon is a new type of sporting competition created and organised by four UNITEN\’s sport club which are the Badminton, Swimming, Basketball and Table Tennis Clubs. The competition has the same concept of a triathlon which is that one competition has multiple sports events.Unlike triathlon, it has four sports events which consists of doubles badminton, 4 X 4 100 meter relay swimming and 3 vs 3 basketball and Singles table tennis.This year on the 29th and 30th of October, 8 groups with 5 to 7 people will be competing with each other to be crown the UNITEN\’s Tetrathlon Champions; the one who accumulated the most points.
The first day of the UNITEN Tetrathlon kicked off with a 3 vs 3 basketball match at 7 p.m. There were 8 teams where those 8 teams were split into two groups with each group having 4 teams.It was hard fought first day for all the team as the top two of each groups proceed to the semi-finals. Giving the group stage matches more fire. It ended at 10 p.m.
The tournament continues with doubles badminton and singles table tennis starting concurrently at 10.15 a.m. Table tennis have a total of 16 players,divided into two groups for round-robin,then top 4 from each groups will proceed to the quarterfinals. Badminton have a total of 8 pair of doubles,similarly to basketball, top two from each group will enter the semi-finals. Both of them were concluded at 1 p.m.
On the same day, the swimming event started their relay race at 8.15pm with a total of 6 groups, 2 groups with a walk-over. The race was divided into two rounds, with 3 teams competing per round. The rankings were determined by the swimmer\’s timing. The swimming event ended at 8.30 p.m.
Shortly after the swimming event, the prize giving and closing ceremony commenced with the groups, PRESIDENT, THE A TEAM and SURE LOSE winning third, second and first places respectively.
