UNITEN IVY have established themselves as serious contenders for the Division Four (women\’s) title in the TNB-QNET Selangor Hockey League (SHL).
Uniten, with several promising and experienced players in their side, were in an uncompromising mood when they defeated KIE HT 13-1 at the KPM Stadium in Jalan Pantai.
It was Uniten’s second victory in Division Four, a category involving six teams. Uniten, coached by Izzwan Salleh, dominated the match against KIE, who had several Under-18 players in their side. But despite their determination and enthusiasm, they were unable to match the opposition.
It did not take long for Uniten to score. The opening goal came in the second minute when M. Saranya Darshini sounded the board.
From then onwards it was goals galore for the title contenders.
Nur Zafirah Aziz scored four goals with the others coming from Noorhayathi Sirkam (two), Nur Aisyah Yaa’cob (two), and one each from Nur Faizah Adam, Noorain Mohd Arshad, Nur Fatin Zariza Aziz and Nurnabilah Rosli.
KIE’s consolation strike came from Kirandeep Kaur.

In the other Division Four matches Prodigy Babes defeated Zaba Girls 6-1 and UiTM upstaged IIUM Mustangs 5-1.
Uniten, after two matches, are leading the six-team division with six points.
Meanwhile, UiTM, the defending champions, registered their third win in Division One when they came from two goals down to beat Uniten Ace 4-2 at the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium in Klang.
However, it was Uniten Ace who took the lead in the ninth minute through Mohd Haikal Zamri’s field goal.
Mohd Rifdi Syimir’s deflection in the 16th minute put Uniten Ace 2-0 up.
But UiTM were not ready to give up and they were on level terms after former international Iman Gobinathan scored two goals in the 20 and 28min.
With the score at 2-2, UiTM gained momentum and went on to dominate the match.

Two minutes before the end of the third quarter Mohd Firdaus Omar scored from a penalty corner to make it 3-2 for UiTM. And then in the 49th minute Iman completed his hat-trick with a penalty corner to earn UiTM the 4-2 win.
In another Division One encounter, at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Hockey Stadium, former international Baljit Singh scored a hat-trick in MBPJ’s 3-1 win over KJLJD.
Baljit was on target in the 10th, 43rd and 58th minutes, while Kahiril Johari scored KJLJD’s only goal in the 48th minute.
UiTM lead the nine-team Division One with a 100% record, They are also the only unbeaten team in Division One with nine points from three wins.
KJLJD, who have played an extra match, are second with nine points from three wins and a loss, followed by MBPJ with six points from three outings.
