The Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Open Day held at Sunway Pyramid from 13th to 16th July, from 10am to 10pm, was a highly anticipated event aimed at promoting courses and scholarships offered by UNITEN. The event sought to increase visibility of the university, highlight its uniqueness, and showcase the benefits of joining UNITEN. The event joined by many student volunteers and lecturers attracted a significant crowd throughout the 4 days.
The UNITEN Open Day provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the diverse range of courses offered by the university. Personally, I discovered new programs that I had not known about before, such as the Government Linked University (GLU) special courses and amazing discounts offered such as the foundation program only for RM 6000. The event had a well-structured layout, with various booths and activities to engage visitors. Attendees had the chance to visit booths by Electric Vehicle Association (EVA), the Virtual Reality (VR) Club, and the Mobile Robotics Club (MRC).
At the EVA booth, I was fascinated by the drones designed by UNITEN students, showcasing their innovation and creativity. The VR Club offered exciting virtual reality simulations that allowed participants to experience different scenarios. The MRC booth showcased electric wheelchairs and robots designed by UNITEN’s students, highlighting the university’s commitment to practical applications of knowledge.
Additionally, the event featured a performance by the ASTENA band, which was a great hit among the attendees. There were also free consultation sessions provided by UNITEN lecturers for students interested in joining the university. Three emcees for this event comprising of UNITEN students, did an amazing job at attracting more people to have a look at this event. Moreover, alumni and current students shared their experiences, providing valuable insights into studying at UNITEN.
The event witnessed significant progress, with around 200 students registering on Saturday alone. The dedication and commitment of the students and volunteers contributed to the overall success of the event. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of handing out flyers and promoting UNITEN’s courses to prospective students. From a third-person perspective, the attractions and booths were highly appealing, creating an engaging and informative environment.
The UNITEN Open Day proved to be a valuable event for both prospective students and the university itself. It allowed attendees to explore a wide range of courses and scholarships, making informed decisions about their educational journeys. The event’s strategic location at Sunway Pyramid maximized the outreach of the targeted audience.
One of the attendees shared, “I found the UNITEN Open Day to be an eye-opening experience. The wide array of courses and the interactive booths provided valuable insights into what the university has to offer. I feel more confident in considering UNITEN for my further studies.”
