
GAMBANG, 21st April – Ten UNITEN athletes participated in the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Open Relay 2017 that was held in Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Pahang on 15th April 2017. The athletic team participated in two categories, namely the Medley (200M + 200M + 400M + 800M) and 4x400M categories. Among all UNITEN representatives, 6 of them managed to attain gold medals in the Medley event and defeated other athletic teams from Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Politeknik Sultan Ahmad Shah, Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Pahang and other institutions.
The winners include Nelvindran A/L Govindasamy, a final year student majoring in Civil Engineering, Ahmad Syazwi Bin Sani and Muhammad Zufar Bin Faudzli, both final year students majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Sugumaran A/L Mohana Dass, a first year student pursuing Mechanical Engineering, Muhammad Amiruddin Bin Razali, currently in his final year for Information System and Muhammad Aiman Bin Rahmat, final year student in Computer Science (Systems and Networking).
“This event is indeed very competitive. It was a great chance to compete with some of the best athletics team in Malaysia. It was a good exposure for us and it gave us a glimpse of how the competition will be like for SUKIPT. This is a good platform for us to perform before the next SUKIPT.\” said Nelvindran.
Nelvindran also shared that it required a lot of commitment to excel in both academics and sports. \”If you are willing to put your time and effort, you will be able to see the fruits of your success. I manage to maintain my Dean’s List standing for every semester while representing UNITEN in athletics.”
This is the team\’s first athletics event outside Selangor and they aspire to achieve more medals in other events and plan to have athletics as one of the main sports in UNITEN.
