KAJANG, 29th October – The student representative council (SRC) of 2017-2018 have pledged their oaths in the Chancellery on the 27th October 2017, vowing to carry out their responsibilities to the best of their abilities. Comprising 17 individuals from both Putrajaya and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah campuses, the ceremony was witnessed by Dato\’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Kamal Nasharuddin bin Mustapha, vice chancellor of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) as well as Prof. Zamri bin Yusof, deputy vice chancellor of UNITEN.
The SRC were first greeted with a few words of wisdom from Dato\’ Kamal himself, who gladly shared his personal experiences and wishes for the brand new term. Each member of the SRC, as well as the directors of Skuad Media UNITEN (SMU), EmceeVengers and NADi, was then required to briefly introduce themselves to the vice chancellor, deputy vice chancellor and the staff under the students affairs centre who attended, as a means of initiating the start of a solid relationship.
After the ceremony ended, Roshan Charles Razali recorded feelings of utter relief, \”After about 100 days of service, finally taking the oath feels like a total pleasure. From now on, we hold more responsibility and we will be willing to move forward and move fast to keep our promises in giving the students a better place.\”
When asked regarding the changes the SRC intends to implement, Roshan emphasized the importance of professionalism. \”In terms of academics, we want to clean up the processes that students have to endure. This time, we will ensure that everything is handled more professionally, not just in academics though, but in everything. When we are more professional and continuously practice it, we\’ll be able to improve our lives in university and together, we\’ll play a part in making UNITEN a world-renown university.\”
Dato\’ Kamal also expressed his enthusiasm over meeting the members of the SRC. In an interview with NADi, he commented, \”Alhamdulillah, I am happy to get to know them. I am able to see the exuberance and the commitment in them and I look forward to working together with the SRC for the betterment of the students and for the betterment of the university.\”
He also urged and warmly encouraged them to be strong throughout their term and to always uphold teamwork by having regular discussions and healthy communication between themselves as well as with UNITEN staff alike.
NADi UNITEN would like to applaud the SRC on finally pledging their oaths, henceforth officially becoming the SRC for 2017-2018. We wish you godspeed throughout your term and we look forward to the new improvements you intend to implement in the near future.
