Strengthening Bonds on the Court

SEMENYIH, 10th December- Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) sent a team of 6 male athletes to University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) in reply to their invitation to a friendly tennis match. The friendly concluded with an overall score of 4-2 to UNITEN’s favor against the four man team from University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC).

The entire friendly took place last Saturday from 8:30 A.M. to 12 P.M. A total of six matches were played (4 singles, 2 doubles). UNITEN representatives comprised of Jude Victor Joseph, Muhammad Aqharie, Dineesh, Idris Bin Ab Ghafar, Zureesh A/L Visvalingam and Ahmad Haziq Bin Razol. UNMC’s team of four comprised of Bek Sultan, Sharvin Sivakumar, Ahmad Farhan Adnan and Aqeel Deen.

Aqeel Deen was elated to the response, saying “…it’s submission week, everyone’s all wound up and this friendly is a good way to unwind. Even though everyone’s out of practice, it’s a great stress reliever.” He added, “For many of us it’s the first time meeting, but Sharvin met Jude a couple years ago in a tournament and that’s how they managed to contact each other for this event. Nottingham (UNMC) hopes to hold more friendlies with other universities in the future and hopefully one day host a tournament.”

A token of appreciation was presented by UNITEN to UNMC as a symbol of the bond forged between the two universities. UNITEN also plans to hold friendlies with other universities in the near future, but with the condition of the courts located in Cendikiawan, those plans may have to be postponed.
