KAJANG, 7th January – Organised by the Institute of Engineers Malaysia – Society of Ingenieur (IEM-SIR) UNITEN, \”Engineers for MAKNA Run 2017\”, an annual charity marathon event in UNITEN, is back for the fifth time since 2012. With participation of over 1100 runners from the public and UNITEN students this time round, the run is divided into five categories, namely 12.6km mens and womens open, 7.5km mens and womens open and Fun Run, which is a 5km colour run.
\”This year the run has reached the ears of the internationals. We had 8 of them, as we also increased our number of categories and upgraded our merchandises. It was indeed a great success. \” said Darshan Balasubramaniam, the programme director of Engineers for MAKNA Run 2017.
The top 10 winners for each three categories walked away with trophies whilst every participant will receive goodies bags upon race kit collection on the 5th and 6th January and finisher medals upon their completion of the run.
All proceedings obtained from the run are be channeled to the event\’s beneficiary, the National Cancer Council Malaysia or known as Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA) in line with the event\’s annual support towards cancer patients. A mock cheque worth RM2500 was handed over to Vemmanah Appanah, general manager of MAKNA by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni UNITEN, Prof. Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Yusoff.
Besides, Darshan added \”I would like to take this opportunity to thank to those whom were involved especially to our Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Zamri and UNITEN for allowing us as students to spread our wings further. Last but not least, I would like to thank my fellow IEM-SIR family for your unwavering efforts towards making this event a huge success.\”
