GOMBAK, 15th April – The Mobile Robotics Club, UNITEN (MRC UNITEN) has achieved second place at The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Robotics Competition 2017 (IRC17), organized by the IIUM Robotic Team came to a close on the 15th April 2017. Taking place at the IIUM Cultural Centre, MRC UNITEN had sent a total of 4 teams to IIUM, Gombak with 2 teams participating in the Autonomous Sumo category and 2 teams participating in the Time Rush category.
Among these four teams, both teams competing in the Time Rush category made it until the selection for the finals while one team under the Autonomous Sumo category succeeded in reaching the quarter finals. However, one team, consisting of four new faces to MRC, managed to compete in the finals of the Autonomous Sumo category and by a small margin, achieved second place to a team from UiTM Shah Alam.
The winning team, comprising Muhammad Hilmi bin Rosli, Muhammad Nurhazman bin Norayeen and Nabil Khalid Alkaff bin Kamil, felt proud over their achievement.
“We’re very happy and motivated to improvise for the next challenge!” said one of the team members, Muhammad Hilmi bin Rosli, enthusiastically, excited for the future.
Muhammad Yunus bin Yakob, Technical Bureau of MRC also expressed feelings of relief and satisfaction. “It had been a long time since MRC UNITEN won a place in the autonomous sumo category until these freshies showed up and took the 2nd place,” he commented.
The NADi UNITEN team would like to congratulate MRC UNITEN for this achievement and we hope that this small step taken will help all the club members to reach new heights in upcoming challenges.
