Independent, impartial and professional counselling is available to all Universiti Tenaga Nasional students. This support is confidential, enabling you to discuss any problems you may have.

The guidance and counselling service offers impartial and confidential counselling that is helpful for a range of feelings and issues, including:

These feelings can be caused by a wide range of situations, like the death of a loved one, not getting on with a family member or problems in education.

You may feel that you would prefer not to speak to family or friends for a range of reasons perhaps so as not to burden them, to get a different perspective or to have a space where you do not need to worry about the other persons reaction.

Guidance and Counselling Unit (GCU)

Students with personal problems can seek guidance and counselling from qualified Counsellors who provide assistance through sessions in a confidential and professional manner.

There are several types of counselling services offered:

Personal Counselling

Counsellors will conduct counselling and guidance sessions for students in a confidential and personal manner. Students will be interviewed to analyse the needs of counselling. They will then be provided with the necessary help.

Academic Counselling

Students with academic problems may want to discuss matters and issues related to academic matters such as course choice, study plan and learning support. Guidance and Counselling Unit are inclusive of counsellors, counselling intern and administrative assistance that manage student mental health welfare and is responsible in ensuring that all student counselling records are kept, including case notes which are maintained in the file.

Career Counselling

Students may need guidance and advice on career planning. Courses taken, values, skills and interests may affect the choice of career in the future.
