the constant circling of
burning rubber
brings us ever nearer to
a halt
(i hope).
and i, whose will is
as sturdy as gelatin castles, begin
rubbing my aching
temples.
i hurt for sugar,
for the rush of a simple
carbohydrate.
i scream for fizz,
plead for a sudden jolt
of liquid excitement.
i ache to laugh
like insanity knows no friend
other than myself.
i want to smile.
but these desires fall short
in the utter silence of
these damned circling tyres
that will never stop.
we\’re travelling in circles.
