KUALA LUMPUR, 10th OCTOBER- In the 7th and 8th of October, the 2016 ACM-ACPC competition Malaysia, sponsored by IBM and ACM, was held at the International Islamic University Malaysia(IIUM),Kuala Lumpur. The competition is held every year by ACM, an international professional organization based in the USA which aims to advance the skills of information technology professionals and students internationally. It is the oldest, largest and prestigious programming competition in the world. Our UNITEN team, known as ‘There’, which consists of Computer Science and Informational Technology(CSIT) students, won third place for this competition.
“ICPC competition demands our college and university students to master their intellect, creativity, and skills. With the support of ACM and IBM, we’re challenging students to unleash their natural talents to become master thinkers who can innovate solutions to make a difference in people’s lives, solving the problems people face today and will face tomorrow” said Prof Dr. Bill Poucher, Executive Director of ACM-ICPC, while explaining the ACM-ICPC competition to the Honourable Higher Education Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh. Innovative and creative indeed the ‘There’ team as they were able to solve 6 out of 10 problem;the problem are usually mathematical, computational and programmable related problem.

“We would probably work hard to be in the reqional ACM ICPC Programming Contest which the qualifying team would have the opportunity to go to other countries representing Malaysia to compete in the International level. In terms of other types of competition,we would also be going to participate in Malaysia National Hacking Competition,UTP Hax’16 which would be on 22nd and 23rd October”
We wish ‘There’ the best of luck for the future.
